A question about canon / Non canon women

Good evening - almost good morning :)

This might sound silly, but does the woman have to be a canon character? Unfortunately, the shows I write for don't have many canon women. One was almost exclusively male for many years. Many of my non-canon characters are female, could I use those if I bring in the canon characters around them?

For example, one of my NCCs is the daughter of one main canon character and my main non-canon character. Could I post something with or about either woman, daughter and/or mother, as long as at least one of the other canon characters is involved? I have a fic that I wrote a while back with the daughter, Holly. I also included another woman, a waitress, whose name has slipped my mind. Plus I had a canon character, Mickey. The fic is a conversation mainly between Holly and Mickey. Would that fic be allowed?

I understand that the community is for showing off the underused canon characters, but I'm having trouble connecting with them, and there are so few ... I'm not really sure what to do.

Thanks,
Theresa
(I'm trying again to get back to writing and posting.)
